Graduate Support Program
The goal of the Graduate Support Program is to provide the support necessary for graduates of San Miguel Middle School to achieve high school graduation. San Miguel works with all graduates to ease their transition into high school by providing tutoring, advocating for and maintaining a connection with all graduates during high school.
The goal is to empower students to advocate for themselves and access the services they need to succeed in school and prepare for college or trade school. San Miguel works to create a continuum of support and stability for students as they graduate from San Miguel, complete high school, and prepare for college.
To foster a sense of accessibility and excitement for post‐secondary education, college visits for San Miguel students at all levels were implemented in 2008‐2009. All San Miguel students have the opportunity to visit a college campus every year. Schools visited have included Saint Mary's University, University of St. Thomas, College of Saint Benedict and St. John's University, Bethel University, Augsburg College, and Minneapolis Community & Technical College.
The graduate support director collaborates with the individual high schools to ensure that San Miguel graduates are engaged in planning for their futures.
Graduate Support Program Honored
The Minnesota Independent Schools Forum named San Miguel's Graduate Support Program as the recipient of its annual program award in April 2009. The award highlights and recognizes innovative programs in Minnesota's non-public schools.
