Empowering Youth Through a Lasallian Education

San Miguel Middle School of Minneapolis was founded in 2000 to address the educational inequities affecting Latino immigrant youth. Unfortunately, the need is as great today as it was nine years ago.

The graduation rate for Latino youth in the seven-county metro area remains under 40%, according to the Minnesota Compass, a local research collaborative, yet 92% of students who graduated from San Miguel in the past four years are  still in high school and progressing toward graduation.

San Miguel serves the working poor in our community and is therefore tuition-free. Currently 98% of San Miguel students qualify for free/reduced meals, a federal poverty indicator.
